> Blevins' remark appears to be a nod to a quote from the 1981 film "Arthur,"
This is pretty important context
Or that VP of Apple quoting from a movie called “Arthur” at an auto show resulting in him being fired.
It has begun right here in the United States and we just are oblivious to these new dastardly form of social credits.
He was roughly quoting the movie Arthur: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-vMsjd0ccM
It's a straight quote from the 1981 movie, Arthur, for the record. There would be zero legal liability to keeping him since any court would see it's a joke.
> public leader that is always representing Apple
He's far more low profile than Cue or Federighi, and completely unknown among the general public, which backs up your "wanted him gone" theory. If they really did fire him purely for this, then I'm speechless; it never went viral, and it was clearly a joke.
Companies overall take social media far too seriously. The amount of women who would have been turned off working for Apple because of this joke is likely many orders of magnitude lower than the amount of people who refuse to work for Apple because of their strict social media and academic research policies (especially AI researchers).
For context, his line is a direct quote from the 1981 film Arthur; quite literally and obviously a joke; and most of the comments on social media seem to find this hiring puzzling.
It's a quote from the movie 'Arthur'. Seems overreaction.
Do you think a millennial boss missed the movie reference from Arthur and took the quote literally. He's just being flip and it cost him his job.
I'm more interested in what those 20 movies are. I found:

1 Raiders of the Lost Ark 2 On Golden Pond 3 Superman II 4 Arthur 5 Stripes 6 The Cannonball Run 7 Chariots of Fire 8 For Your Eyes Only 9 The Four Seasons 10 Time Bandits
Of which I guess 2, 3, 8 isn't original.

1 American Sniper 2 The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 3 Guardians of the Galaxy 4 Captain America: The Winter Soldier 5 The LEGO Movie 6 The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies 7 Transformers: Age of Extinction 8 Maleficent 9 X-Men: Days of Future Past 10 Big Hero 6
