If you go to Ebert's wikipedia, you can almost miss the link to the screenplay he wrote:

This was co-produced with Russ Meyer, who basically made a bunch films which are as close to porn as you can get without being technically porn. He also made a ton of porn films as well. I haven't seen any of them, but many are now cult films. It feels debatable that he intended these to become cultural relics.

I was surprised to see Roger Ebert was involved in that film! Gene Siskel, his long time partner, rated Valley of the Dolls 0 out of 4 stars, which is funny.
For me that was Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. Roger Ebert was not just a movie critic... And it inspired Austin Powers as well!
Ebert did write a movie: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyond_the_Valley_of_the_Dolls
Although it's not listed in this post because it's a rental. I feel like it deserves a mention nonetheless. "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" is a 1960s cult classic. It was directed by Russ Meyer and written by Roger Ebert. There's a link to it on Roger's site as well as available to stream from Amazon for cheap:

Roger Ebert was an excellent film critic, but that mean he could make/write a good movie (see Beyond the Valley of the Dolls).
We all have different talents.
Actually Roger Ebert did make a movie in the 80's called "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls". And it's good too.
But anyway, your point still stands aside from the small Ebert error.
