The feedback loop is too tight. The writing for these shows/movies is terrible because it's defensive; the authors were already giving clarifying interviews in their heads before they even put ink to paper. Nice to see the dogshit Candyman remake referenced, because Peele is one of the worst offenders here. The man is too nerdy for his own good. It feels good to explain things, but at some point you have to relinquish control and let the audience color the picture in. Art belongs to me.
Also be sure to checkout Candyman if you like horror films and Philip Glass.
Never commented on the internet before, but I just started to learn playing the Intro Theme to Candyman on piano [0] yesterday and then saw this. Weird coincidence...
The movie Candyman itself and the rest of the songs in the score are also fantastic.
Heard about that song from the sample in Travis Scott's The Prayer [1].

At one point Disney acquired the movie rights to "Myths of Miami" for Clive Barker who was going to make a "Bloody Mary" movie out it similar to his "Candyman" movies, so presumably it is a work of fiction. But like how "Candyman" highlighted the real horrors of housing projects in addition to the supernatural elements, the movie presumably would have highlighted the real problem of homeless children.
