In New Zealand we have a show called Country Calender. It is the 19th longest running TV show in the world, running since 1966.

Every episode is about a different farm, or an interesting person who works the land. You get to see the real challenges of rural life, from established multi-generational farms to city folk who are attempting to farm to old school farmers experimenting with trendy environmental techniques. If someone has tried to farm it in New Zealand, there is probably a country calender episode from saffron to avocado to organic wine.
