Lets see... the most recent comedy movies I've seen...
Knives Out (2019) was probably the one I enjoyed the most.
JoJo Rabbit was trying too hard IMO, but I still smiled/laughed throughout it. WW2 is kinda overdone at this point (though serious films like Downfall are worth revisiting)
Free Guy was fine? Apparently "The Suicide Squad" also counts as a comedy. I guess Deadpool and Deadpool 2 were also fine. Maybe other people are tired of comicbook / superhero movies, but really I'm personally only tired of the "Marvel Formula" (and Deadpool / The Suicide Squad strays pretty heavily from the formula). Going back a bit further is "Jumanji"...
There's a lot of flicks / comedy films out there. Nothing is quite as good as Airplane but I'd say Knives Out is on-par, maybe even better than Clue (1985).
I don't really like the "Despicable Me" series, but my nieces really wanted to watch "Minions: Rise of Gru" and I actually enjoyed that one. (My nieces love this series, so I can say that I've watched all of it and its mostly trash. But Rise of Gru actually got me to laugh)
--------
I'm no critic. I enjoy just a basic flick now and then. Honestly, I'd rewatch "Knives Out" more than any Adam Sandler movie from the 90s or even Austin Powers. 90s era comedy just didn't mesh well with me, despite me growing up at that time. I do have a soft spot for the dry 80s stuff with Leslie Nielsen, and I guess I really liked Jackie Chan's action/comedies through the 90s and 00s.
I dunno, if I think "90s comedy I enjoyed", I think of Men in Black or Aladdin? Nothing in the list that this author wrote.
I just found it funny that this existed, haven't seen similar ones on LinkedIn before - anyone else have? I thought it wouldn't be the usual marketing target here.
for anyone not seeing the point, this is a profile for someone in the movie Deadpool 2, which seems a weird marketing connection to make.
Does nothing in Deadpool 2 qualify as gore to you? It's among several movies which depict man falling into a woodchipper. Does cutting zombies with a chainsaw not count as gore? Do videos of abatteur, butchers and surgeries count as gore?
Gore is subjective obviously, but if the above is not 'gore enough' for you, then you are comparing some extreme gore, of the kind that most people will (hopefully) never encounter in their life, with pedestrian portrayals of sex, something most people do encounter.
Jokes aside, let's flip your argument on it's head -> would you be concerned if someone you know recommended you a website where various kinds of gore are uploaded by the thousands every day, they are tagged and categorised for easy search? Are you concerned about pornhub to the same degree? I would probably refer to them to a mental health helpline immediately.
It's not actually hard to find Gore, it does surface on 4Chan and other places occasionally, it's just that mentally healthy people don't search it regularly the way they do porn.
For most people, renting the film and buying a digital copy are effectively the same thing. Or do you honestly expect that your iTunes "purchases" will still be viewable in 5 years? I don't.
And yes, while $30 is expensive in comparison to other companies' rental prices, I remember that many new movies (e.g. Deadpool 2) are at first only available for sale on iTunes and only later do they add rental options. Plus, for movie fanatics - who tend to be main buyers in the first 1-2 weeks, Disney is not competing with online rentals, they are competing with 4K Blu-Ray.
So if they can provide an experience that lets me watch a movie at 4K with HDR and a decent bitrate on my offline TV, I'm in at $30.
I feel like Tenet is seriously screwing up here. I'd love to see the film and I'm OK with paying $30 for the whole family. But Cinemas are closed, there are no streaming options, and they don't even have a Blu-Ray release date yet.
With that in mind, I'm not surprised that some of my friends have opted to watch a low-quality illegal cam recording of it, instead of waiting 5+ months. Warner Brothers could have monetized that impatience, but they screwed up. Let's hope Disney will do better by offering paid legal downloads on day 1, even if it's as expensive as cinema used to be.
And if you don't believe that impatient movie fanatics are a market, consider this:
For video there's Lightworks (https://www.lwks.com/), which was used for cutting Pulp Fiction and Wolf of Wall Street for example.
Da Vinci Resolve (https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/) is another professional video editor used for popular movies (Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool 2 for example).
Not just there I saw one in the movie theatre when I went to see Deadpool 2. I don't want to see Facebook outside of going through the effort to type it into a browser. No thanks. This will be my last year or 2 on that "platform" anyway.

Both work on Linux.
