Can you keep an eye on government planes that would be airborned if the SHTF?

E-4Bs, E-6s, VC-25As, C-32A, etc plus mass helo flights exiting DC.

Topic reminds me of the movie Miracle Mile.

Similarly for me with an old movie called Miracle Mile. I wanted to watch it and searched through the 6 paid services I have ... none of them had it in my country, not even for "rental" . I've got the income, and I'd gladly pay $5 usd to rent a movie to watch. Like I did in the 90s . But noooooooo. So yeah, I found it in some torrent site and watched it happily.

I'd also recommend "Miracle Mile". Dunno 'bout the horror scale cos it's not that kind of film. It's about the day of the event. Leaves an impression.

Miracle Mile isn't in that service, while it is pretty much available via Piracy ( https://yts.mx/movies/miracle-mile-1988 )

I as a teen in the 80s, I never believed nuclear war was inevitable, but it was a constant background fear. In the suburbs of Houston, any nighttime lightning-strike waking me up would trigger the thought: "was that a nuclear detonation over the city?"

Those seeking to learn more about the mindset could check out ABC's 'The Day After' miniseries (1983) or the movie 'Miracle Mile' (1988) – which I'd suggest viewing with no other pre-reading other than this recommendation.

I feel like that book was required HS reading in the 80s. The movie is also good.

I'll add the film Miracle Mile to the suggestions.

Happened to me about a month ago when I tried to watch Miracle Mile ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097889/reviews ). I live in Mexico and pay for: Amazon Prime, Google Play, Netflix, CinepolisKlick and Claro Video (really, I am subscribed in one way or another to all of them). None of them had this movie in their Mexico version... I ended up having to watch it in PopCorn Time.

Another scary nuclear holocaust movie: Miracle Mile (1988) [1].

Framed as a love story, it's set during a single night in LA as a man accidentally picks up a ringing pay phone and hears what seems to be a soldier who has misdialed his father and calling to warn of an impending missile launch.

It's an incredibly tense film as the man anguishes about whether the phone call was fake or not, and decides to make an attempt to get out of town, but not before getting his girlfriend. It doesn't have the documentary realism of Threads, but the atmosphere of dread is a fantastic, and the structure -- a long "After Hours"-type night of craziness while nuclear holocaust is looming -- is pretty unique.

Speaking of warnings about a nuclear war, there's a great 80's movie that centers around one such warning and how ordinary people react to it: Miracle Mile.

Some famous ones I enjoyed are 'Dr Strangelove', 'WarGames', and 'The Day After'.

I also enjoyed the lesser-known 'Miracle Mile' and 'Matinee (1993)'.

Haven't seen 'On the Beach', but it's an early (1959) well-reviewed film on the topic. Haven't seen 'Thirteen Days', but it covers the Cuban missile crisis -- perhaps the closest the world came to using nuclear weapons after Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
