You mention Arcane, and that reminds me that Netflix's support of animation is really undervalued. LD&R has been mentioned, but they also helped bankroll a ton of marquee projects from Science Saru (Devilman Crybaby, DanDaDan), Orange (Beastars, Trigun Stampede), and Trigger (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Delicious in Dungeon). They picked up Pantheon and Scavenger's Reign. They've got another season of Blue Eye Samurai coming. Oh, and K-Pop Demon Hunters.
If you care about animation as either a visual or storytelling medium, Netflix has made a lot of the best movies and series of the past few years possible or accessible. (Having to pirate Pantheon S2 because it was initially only released in Australia was not fun.)
The TV show Pantheon did a really cool job of exploring super intelligence from a very personal perspective, disguised in part as a scifi about living forever.
(Mild spoiler): It has a basic plot point about uploaded humans being used to tackle problems as unknowing slaves and resetting their memories to get them to endlessly repeat tasks.
There is also the outcome outlined in stories like Pantheon [0] whereby we upload our minds and utilize unbounded computation while still keeping the essence of our humanity.

Talking about this without mentioning Pantheon is really pretty silly.
I don't want to spoil Pantheon for people who haven't heard about it yet, but if this is a theme you're interested I highly recommend giving it a watch.
MMAcevedo, the TV series Pantheon, and the play The Summerland Project are all excellent treatments of the topic.
If you enjoyed any one of those three, then I recommend the others.
The show Pantheon [0] has a really deep examination of mind uploading, and despite the massive risk on all levels, I personally do think it's an appealing long-term vision for humanity.

A bit of a jump but have a look at Pantheon the tv series, it is on Netflix at the moment. Based on a book by Ken Liu, the end of the series, blew my mind.
This comment reminded me of the TV show I've been recently watching on Netflix, Pantheon. It's about a different technical breakthrough (I don't want to put any spoilers), but it's also something that completely alters society, no security is able to deal with that new technology, first thing that happens is that the technology is weaponized... etc.
Idk enough about quantum computing to even understand this... but a technology that turns, say, AES or Blowfish, suddenly trivial to crack would very likely change the world
Just want to plug Pantheon as a TV series exploring this idea with excellent storytelling. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantheon_(TV_series))
There was a nice reference to that scene in the Pantheon series: an “uploaded” human (basically an emulated brain with a software human-based avatar) learns he can interact with other pieces of software directly, but can't put his mind to it yet. He does modify his avatars’ fingers in a GitS-like fashion, though, to everyone’s amusement.

gotta disagree on invincible, i thought season 2 especially has been pretty middling. a show that ironically you kinda have to pirate due to season 1 only being available on amc+ and season 2 being available through prime, but only in australia and new zealand is Pantheon. feels like something the HN crowd would eat up too.
They should be required to publish and abandon the copyright in these cases.
Aside, Pantheon season 2 is a victim of these tax hacks-- it's great and yet it'll never be released in North America as a result.
I personally prefer more meat-y plots and stay away from series with scenes that are cute (or stylish) for the sake of being cute (or cool).
That said, here are some of my favorites:

Also an honorable mention for Pantheon. It's a western animation but season 2's finale was basically one of greg egan's books come to life.

"The Apocalypse Triptych" [1] is a really interesting collection of short stories. There is a really nice story by Ken Liu that has a pretty solid animation series based on it, "Pantheon" [2]
