Recently I was watching Property Brothers and saw two episodes where both houses had Brazilian Hardwood flooring. The funny thing is that I live in Brazil and it is quite rare to find houses with that type of flooring - the bureaucracy and costs associated make it very expensive - but that might not be the case if the customer is Canadian
Because sure, if you've got Property Brothers on in the background while you do other stuff, that makes sense. You can go in and out.
But if you're watching Squid Game, or The Last of Us, or Yellowjackets, or even Wednesday -- you'd better be paying attention to every frame. Modern dramatic TV demands your full attention in a way that The Golden Girls didn't.
The idea that younger generations are binge-watching Yellowjackets while browsing TikTok doesn't make any sense.
The recent episode _What we do in the Shadows_ : “Go Flip Yourself” has the gang watching a version of property brothers while their house is falling apart around them.
I thought it was part of the subtext, at least… unproductive watching others do what you need to do.
I’ve experienced this firsthand when asking my partner if maybe we can think about picking up… so yeah, the TV remote was picked up so Marie Condo [sp?] videos could light up the TV… and instead of just picking up, it’s a watch party of someone else picking up :(
Once you've watched an episode or two of the Property Brothers, you have really seen them all. Their style, along with the rest of the HGTV style, is starting to look tired and dated.
Really great points. I think that when working around power tools it is sometimes forgotten how careful you have to be.
Everyone innately knows certain things like "don't stick fingers in light socket" but other things aren't immediately obvious. Perhaps because you are juxtaposing something like an iphone and maybe are focused on the worse case scenario as being a destroyed iphone (in other words the money issue) instead of the iphone flying off into someones face.
I was watching an episode of "Property Brothers" (a typical renovate a house HGTV type show) and was amazed that they were having the owners participate in demolition without using practically any protective gear (while using crowbars and sledgehammers etc.)
