2012 · TV series · 3 seasons
Secret Eaters is a British documentary television series about overeating. It is shown on Channel 4 and presented by Anna Richardson. With their permission, people with eating habit problems are videoed in their home over a week. The subjects do not suspect that private investigators are also following and videoing them elsewhere. At the end of the week, the true amount of what the subjects have eaten is revealed. The subjects are given some days to change their habits, and are brought back, showing considerable weight loss. This drama is intercut with a separate short story where the presenter and food experts test some factor causing overeating.

> In fast food, people are eating a day's worth of food in one sitting. Triple burger, large fries, large drink. People are doing this once a day every day of the week. Then they go home and order more high calorie food with high calorie drinks and constant snacking.
The UK had a reality TV show called Secret Eaters where they signed up people to be monitored 24/7 by cameras and private investigators which tracked every single thing they put in their mouth and counted up the calories.
It was really informative to see how some people eat and it is not pretty. Even the people who didn't regularly eat fast food or go out to chip shops ate way more than is healthy with fatty sausages, fried things, and little fruit or vegetables, all in huge portions.
Because they don’t control their portions or eating habits. Take a look at the UK TV show “Secret Eaters”* which sets up secret cameras in and has investigators follow a different household every episode to estimate everything they eat down to the tbsp of sauce. It’s an eye opening view into psychology. Lots of people think they’re eating 2K kcal or less but are in reality consuming 3-5K per day.

For some real life examples see the "Secret Eaters" TV series. When people claim that they gain weight despite not eating much they are lying or delusional.

I do understand that it can be challenging for many people to reduce their energy intake.
That's good advice. Many overweight people have no idea how many calories they're actually consuming, or are in denial about it.
The British TV show "Secret Eaters" is eye opening. While it may be an extreme example, it shows how people can be eating more than twice as much as they think.
