Yeah TNG is my go-to for optimistic sci-fi. Voyager a close second; Deep Space 9 is a bit more muddled.
Modern Trek is a let-down, although Lower Decks has been awesome with lots of member berries sprinkled throughout for the TNG-era enjoyers.
I should add that Star Trek: Prodigy (albeit a kids show) has been very optimistic and enjoyable too, feels very much like TNG-era. Janeway and Chakotay are in as well.
P.S.
On a tangent The Orville (a Star Trek TNG clone by Seth MacFarlane) is pretty good; some Star Trek actors even show up in it.
Season 4 is apparently in production.
> Happily. I have more access to content now than I have ever had before; we live in a golden age of access to video content. I can't imagine a rational argument for going back to the era of physical media.
Please show me where I can access The Witches (2020) by Robert Zemeckis?
Or the Willow TV show from 2022
Or Final Space
Or Star Trek: Prodigy
Or Westworld
The shows and movies just disappear off streaming because some executive did the math and they'll save money by just taking things off the internet.
This is why you buy anything you want to see again or even show to your kids later on as a physical copy. (Or do the yarr-thing and hold on to the digital copy on your own hardware)
Star Trek: Prodigy has already used audio from previous movies and TV to bring back to life several actors from previous series. It's not exactly the same as this, but their dialogue was taken out of context to create new scenes and story.
What about tv shows? The new Star Trek: Prodigy is made for a younger audience.
There was also a whole episode of Star Trek: Prodigy (a kid-oriented series) centered around it a few weeks ago.
