Interestingly, YouTube also lends itself for this sort of thing for movies. You can watch scenes from movies and get the gist, while only spending ~30min on a movie. It's a great way to watch mediocre movies - they're not so horrible (1), and you do get the entertainment value without being exposed to the shlocky-est parts.

    (1) Eg, if you skip the beach scene, Terminator Dark Fate is... palatable! But yeah, the reasons for mediocrity typically still shine through a bit.

Woke content is a lot like Christian rock.

The music is generally considered terrible because the quality of the music is not important, the point is to sing about religious themes. Every song is about Jesus, the lord’s love, etc etc. people listen to it because it adheres to their ideology. Not because it’s objectively high quality music.

Woke media is about checking off the diversity boxes, using minorities and very real social issues as a marketing campaign. These producers start with their ideology and work backwards. The writing is an afterthought because in their worldview, people will simply watch X because they look like X.

This is why you end up with extremely low tier writing with properties such as Ghostbusters 2016, Ocean’s 8, Men in Black 4, Terminator: Dark Fate, Charlie’s angels 2019, and the endless list of gender-swapped / race swapped reboots. They do poorly at the box office and among fanbases, but do great on Twitter among folks looking for ideology-driven content.

Woke content, like Christian rock, will always have an audience. But an audience driven purely by ideology and not by writing quality is unlikely to succeed. Especially as audiences and the actors have taken notice. For example, Folks like Emily blunt are avoiding films explicitly prioritizing gender-based marketing:

I was hoping they would test chip bags, because it was a plot device in the most recent Terminator movie.

After searching, I found that Kaspersky has a blog post on the topic: https://usa.kaspersky.com/blog/terminator-dark-fate-chips/18843/

It surprised me that chip bags were more effective in their test than cookie tins, but only when they double-bagged it

I turned on Terminator Dark Fate today, and was totally bored with it. It was nothing more than hitting things, shooting things, blowing up things, and crashing things, without respite.

Should take away the graphics cards from the film crew.

Leiah (and Tarking) are not good examples.

Blade Runner comes awfully close. Compare the original movie footage with the replicated 3D version and it's almost impossible to tell.

I'd say, rendering is basically solved. The problem now is animations. Very hard to replicate all micro expressions and imperfections we have come to accept from humans. Even humans with motion capture rigs seem to be insufficient.

That said, what about the John Connor death in Terminator: Dark Fate? What's uncanny about that?

People vote with their attendance and requisite dollars. Terminator Dark Fate and Charlie's Angels have bombed at the box office. Studios are about making money. They always have been and always will be. I would suspect Mr Scorcese would find the same thing in Bollywood as well.

All genres go through cycles in film in terms of popularity. Marvel will have a down cycle at some point. Disney movies lost their way when Disney himself died. It takes leadership, a great script, great acting and creativity, to build successful movies that can grow into franchises. or be even something people enjoy watching more that once on it's own.

That's not much competition, and they seem to have arrived at a consensus about what kind of content we should experience

The flurry of movies loved by critics coincidentally working for media outlets owned by big players, and hated by actual fans shows the power of this.

Terminator: Dark Fate should have been amazing but it pretty much sucked, for example. Being out of sync with the fans doesn’t seem to matter to studio bosses, even if the movie tanks.

Lol... terminator dark fate sub 1, the parallel. Never before has a movie shown the events that are simultaneously manifested in reality.

Come on down this fall it’s going to be scorching out. I mean the sky will literally be on fire as your mind explodes from both radiation and the insane surelism that was terminator!
