The prehistoric Croods family live in a particularly dangerous moment in time. Patriarch Grug, his mate Ugga, teenage daughter Eep, son Thunk, and feisty Gran gather food by day and huddle together in a cave at night. When a more evolved caveman named Guy arrives on the scene, Grug is distrustful, but it soon becomes apparent that Guy is correct about the impending destruction of their world.

Seems to be a reference to "The Croods" [1], a 2013 animated movie in which Nicholas Cage (!) voices the caveman Grug.

They recently broke YouTube search even more. Go to a channel and do a search within that channel using the search field that is on the far right of the options below the channel information. You may have to click the ">" on the right to make it visible.

What is supposed to happen when you search using that is that it shows you just results for that channel. It still does that for some searches, but for other searches it seems to be doing a normal site wide search.

Whether or not a given search term works correctly seems to be a function of the search term, not a function of the channel being searched.

For example, let's say you are on a channel that reviews movies, and you want to see if they have reviews of some family friendly animated moves.

Search for "zootopia", "trolls", "cars", "coco", "dragon", "stitch", or "panda" and it gives just results from that channel, or tells you the channel has no matching content.

Search for "luca", "soul", "moana", "puss", "megamind", "ratatouille", "rio", "croods", or "lilo" and you get site wide results.

For multi-word searches order matters: "lilo & stitch" gives site wide results and "stitch & lilo" gives results for the channel so it is not the case that certain words trigger the problem.

I assume this is a bug, since I can't see any connection between the words that break out of channel search. They were all movies in my examples, but similar things happen with words from other categories. Example: "soprano", "tenor", "countertenor", "mezzo-soprano", and "bass-baritone" work correctly, and "baritone", "alto", "base", and "contralto" do not.

My personal theory is that story telling is an ancient meme that may predate modern humans. By telling failure and success stories we learn from the experiences of others, sometimes even when exaggerated or largely fictional. On the whole it makes some tribes better equipped to survive.

Even the movie Croods has the father telling failure stories each night to warn the kids. At least until meeting the more 'successful' boy.

    >They all made money

This is hollywood. Take the budget, double it, and add 50 million dollars and then you have an accurate idea of the true budget. To be "profitable" the reported boxoffice needs to be at least 3X the budget. For example, Sherman and Mr.Peabody had a budget of "150 million", made 300 million, but dreamworks still lost 57 million making the movie.

Known flops of the last two years are : Home, Penguins of Madagascar, Sherman and Mr. Peabody, Turbo, Rise of the Guardians.

Only The Croods and HTTYD were profitable.
